PSA: Go see the SpongeBob musical at the Cygnet! @thespongebobmusical is currently playing at @cygnettheatre, and we have some very big fans in the Bales house. 🧽🍍 @spongebob has been a constant in our home for the past 5–6 years, so I was thrilled for the opportunity to take the boys to see a live performance. I’ll admit, I had some assumptions going in—and they were completely proven wrong. The cast was phenomenal and had me literally LOL-ing throughout the show and the soundtrack features songs by artists like Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At The Disco, and David Bowie. It’s funny, energetic, nostalgic, and has enough humor aimed at adults that it doesn’t feel like just a show for kids. Plankton, played by @drewbrad4, was hands-down my favorite character (his rap... dead 💀), though the boys each had their own favorites. My oldest couldn’t help but bop along to the songs and comment on the accuracy of the costumes, and my five-year-old stayed engaged through the entire 2.5-hour production, which I’d say speaks for itself. All that to say: I highly recommend catching this show while it’s in town. It runs through July 12 and is the perfect excuse to check out Cygnet’s beautiful new theater in Liberty Station if you haven’t already. The space is intimate enough that there truly isn’t a bad seat in the house. If you’re thinking about going, use code BOB20 for 20% off regular-priced tickets. They also offer 50% off children’s tickets (ages 5–15) with a paid adult ticket. Thank you to @cygnettheatre for hosting our family for this performance! P.S. Don’t skip the themed treats and beverages—Blue lemonade + Swedish Fish for the win 🐟— and don’t forget the checkout the downstairs art gallery… we LOVED that they switched out the work to align with the underwater theme! P.S.S. It’s more vital than ever to support our local Arts organizations to keep the Arts in San Diego alive and accessible. PSA concluded. Back to Bikini Bottom. 🫧 #TheSpongeBobMusical #CygnetTheatre #LibertyStation #SanDiegoFamily #SBFAlovesSD
