#Ad - January is full of chilly days, and with the heater running extra to keep me cozy, improving the energy efficiency of my home is on my mind. I noticed one morning a crack of light coming from under the door - uh oh, that is a tell-tale sign of a not-so-efficient door. I ran to the local hardware store and bought a new door insulation kit to replace my old weather stripping. I decided to double-check that the door was level and cracks were even. Adjusting the hinge screws with micro-turns, a matchstick or two to fix loose screw-holes, and a brand new seal over the entire frame were easy, effective fixes. For a moderate challenge, I removed the old threshold, which was just a few screws on the frame and the door, and replaced with a new kit. It was a snug fit - the rubber mallet is one of my favorite tools for snug things without marring them. Redoing the sealing on the door made such a big difference that  I didn't realize I needed.
